About SEDS UNLV
The SEDS UNLV chapter was established in January 2019 as a science and engineering-based student organization aimed at developing a variety of space-related endeavors. The organization aims to bring together students passionate about space to work on challenging projects, and foster interest among the student body in space exploration.
We are a pre-professional organization focused on giving you the necessary experience & opportunity to work in aerospace, and we do that through engineering projects. We proudly help students with no experience or background in engineering learn how to design, simulate, prototype, test, and finalize rocket builds.
Meet the Officers
Rabih Chaar
President
Rabih is a Mechanical Engineering & Honors College student. He is SEDS UNLV's first ever 2-term President. He worked on SPARK 1 (Electronics Lead), SACUP 2024 (Engineer & Mentor), & tripoli level 2 certified. With a passion for aerospace he hopes to continue working at SpaceX after his Launch Engineering summer 2024 internship role with the Spacecraft Integration - Fairings Refurb team ends.
Gavin Chung
Vice President
Gavin is a senior studying Mechanical Engineering. He has worked on multiple projects including RebelSat-1, SPARK 1, and Luna. He has interned at NASA Langley, AFRL, Rocket Lab, and Aerojet Rocketdyne, and hopes to become a full-time Propulsion Engineer after graduating.
Dominic Prisneac
Secretary
Dominic is a student working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since he's joined SEDS UNLV, he's been able to help out with SPARK 1, fly a level 1 high-power rocket, design a level 2 rocket, and start work on SPARK 2 as the Lead Combustion Devices Engineer focusing on the thrust chamber assembly. He hopes to continue growing his passion for aerospace as his journey continues.
Kylee is a junior Mechanical Engineering student with a minor in Biology. Since joining SEDS, she has immersed herself in building her level 1 and level 2 High-Powered rockets and contributing to the SPARK 2 project as an engineer. Her passion lies at the intersection of biomedical and aerospace engineering, a field she aims to transverse to help optimize manned space missions—merging technology and biology to support humanity’s explorations beyond Earth.
Kylee Brahma
Treasurer
Sergio Jr Aleman
Public Relations
Sergio is a junior Mechanical Engineering student. His passion for aerospace began with airplanes when he was younger. Since joining SEDS UNLV, he has grown more knowledgeable about the aerospace industry. Sergio plans to pursue his level 1 rocketry certificate while continuing to aid in the club’s development of its second liquid rocket engine and continuously growing the club’s outreach through his role as an officer.
Leonel Isaac Flores
Public Relations
Isaac is a second-year Mechanical Engineering student. Since joining SEDS, he quickly realized his interest and love for space and the aerospace industry, and has become increasingly involved with the club in order to achieve his ambitions of one day becoming a full-time Design Engineer within the aerospace industry.
